2007 Post Photo Patrol
Contest FINALISTS
Updated Dec. 24, 2007
Editor's Note: Winners of the $1,000 first place, $350
second place, and $150 third place prizes will be announced in the Dec. 17
edition.
FIRST PLACE If you live or work in Centre, you may recognize the slightly distorted -- and slightly funnier-looking than usual -- face of UPS delivery man Ronnie Ivey as he falls like a pregnant brick from 13,000 feet high in the skies over northern California. Ronnie was in the Golden State visiting his son Adam, who is stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. Adam talked his old man into hopping out the door of a perfectly good airplane with a professional skydiver strapped to his back and Ronnie said he couldn't think of anything better to cling to on the way down than a copy of The Post.
SECOND PLACE Lorri Meyer, Leesburg/Peachtree City, Ga., traveled to Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in May 2007. She had her photo taken with The Post in front of the Maoi at Tongariki.
THIRD PLACE
Joey and Tammy Shaw had more than raw speed on their minds when they participated in a Marlboro hot lap session at Talladega Superspeedway on March 13. They also posed beside a former IROC Series Dodge Avenger with a copy of The Post and are now entered in the 2007 Post Photo Patrol Contest.
We're not sure if he's reading it, but little Baron House took a break from playing on the beach in Destin, Fla. over the Memorial Day weekend to take a look at The Post. Baron is now entered in our Post Photo Patrol Contest.
Edna and Jack Kisor, Gadsden, traveled to Arizona May 19-25. The two were born and raised in Cherokee County, they told us, adding that they had a wonderful vacation, which included a stop at the Grand Canyon.
Paul and Susan Redgate, Centre, traveled to Alaska in June 2007. During their stay they took a day trip to Mt. McKinley and their chopper landed on Ruth Glacier. "Although clear and warm, the ice and snow remain 'crunchy'," Mr. Redgate wrote us.
Delaney Stouder, Centre, and her father Paul pose in front of the killer whales on display at Sea World in Orlando, Fla. The two orcas perform in the Believe Show at Shamu Stadium.
Teresa Chamblee and her granddaughter Breanna traveled to Germany. Here, they pose with The Post with Adolph Hitler's vacation home, known as the Eagle's Nest, in the background.
Corey Ivey, Sand Rock, traveled to Singapore in January 2007. He posed with a copy of The Post at a marker indicating the southernmost point on the continent of Asia.
Tori and Deidra Davis pose at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver (and 2007 Daytona 500 winner) Kevin Harvick and The Post.
Jack and Jamie Stargell visited Jack's sister, who lives in Ft. Worth, Texas. The couple posed with a copy of The Post at the Dallas-Ft. Worth stockyard jail.
Sgt. Samuel Hancock, Piedmont, is shown with The Post in the mountains
of Afghanistan, just across the Pakistan border. The picture was taken
at night because the flash from the camera would have made him a target
because he is in such a dangerous area. The moon is shown in the
background. Hancock said he read his copy of The Post about 10 times. He
said everyone should write and pray for our soldiers.
