Hibbett Sports to open location in Centre STAFF REPORTS BIRMINGHAM — Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc., the national sporting goods retailer based in Birmingham, is pleased to announce the execution of a lease for a new store in Centre. Hibbett Sports plans to open the new location this summer at Cherokee Plaza Shopping Center (next to Goody's). The store anticipates employing eight full- and part-time team members. Hibbett has 84 locations in Alabama. Hibbett is a fast-growing operator of over 880 full-line sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets, predominantly in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, according to a company press release dated June 11.
