GADSDEN — The
Spring Commencement Ceremonies for Gadsden State
Community College will be held
Thursday, May at 5 p.m. at the Word of Life Church in
Oxford
and Friday, May 6 at Wallace Hall in
Gadsden. Both ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 7
p.m.
Stephanie W. Bell, a
member of the Alabama State Board of Education since 1995, will address the
graduates at the Oxford
ceremony. Bell represents District III which
includes Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Cleburne,
Coosa, Elmore and portions of Autauga, Montgomery,
Shelby, St. Clair and Talladega counties. The colleges in her
district are Gadsden State Community College
and J.F. Ingram State
Technical
College. Bell has a Bachelor of Science degree in
English/journalism-applied communications from
Auburn
University and is currently living in Montgomery.
Mary Scott Hunter
will be the featured speaker for the
Gadsden
ceremony. Hunter is currently serving her first term on the Alabama State
Board of Education. She represents District VIII which includes twelve
school systems in DeKalb, Etowah, Jackson,
Limestone, and Madison
Counties. The colleges in
her district are Athens State University,
John C.
Calhoun
Community College, J.F. Drake State Technical College,
Gadsden State
Community College and Northeast Alabama Community College.
Hunter has a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama School of
Law and resides in Huntsville.
